Most people want the ideal pre workout when shopping for a supplement. While it can be easy to find an ideal product, you have to first know what your goals are and what the product needs to deliver.
For example, people who aren’t into bodybuilding style workouts probably don’t need the inclusion of ingredients that induce a pump. Those only training maximal strength, they don’t need ingredients that boost endurance. For a long distance runner, you won’t need strength-boosting ingredients.
Find Your Ideal Pre Workout
Step 1 – Note down what you want from your product
There are plenty of potential benefits of pre workouts, including:
- Increased Energy
Once you know what things you need from a product, you can research products and read reviews to find out if it’s a good fit for you.
Step 2 – Research ingredients and dosages
I suggest looking at the website Examine.com to find out which ingredients have been scientifically validated for the results you want. Once you find out which ingredients are most important to you, you can search for products that are the best fit, or make your own DIY pre workout with bulk ingredients bought separately, which is my favorite way to dose pre workouts.
Some of the most common pre workout ingredients are Caffeine, Citrulline, Beta Alanine, Creatine, Betaine, Alpha GPC, etc.
Step 3 – Use the product regularly and note the effects
The best way to see if a pre workout is working is to repeat workouts with, and without using the pre workout supplement. If you notice a big difference in performance, it is clear the product is working.
When it’s not working, you might not be getting the right dosages of some of the ingredients. If you are low on an ingredient or two, you could always add in some bulk powder to meet the required dosages. A lot of pre workouts may not be dosed right for you. That means there is a good chance you might need to add a little more in!
